Mountain View Data Announces Free Trial Version of MVD Powered NAS 1.5 Based on Linux

San Francisco – June 18, 2002 –Mountain View Data has announced the release of a free trial version of MVD Powered NAS v 1.5 Special Edition (S.E.) using a streamlined Linux OS. MVD Powered NAS 1.5 S.E. is beta release software that is now available to corporate users free of charge for a 30-day period.

MVD Powered NAS runs on Intel architecture PC servers, and supports clients running Windows, Unix/Linux and Mac OS. It features a high-availability journaling file system, a web-based graphical user interface, online re-sizing, and software snapshot capabilities that allow users to make nearly instantaneous copies of their entire file system.

George Sun, general manager and vice president of sales at Mountain View Data, "Our free trial program will provide our NAS software with greater exposure to corporate users, accelerating our sales as well as our partners' sales. MVD Powered NAS includes high-end features such as snapshots, seen in NAS offerings by Network Appliance and EMC, but it is available to a broader user base as it runs on affordable PC servers. MVD Powered NAS is a robust alternative to Microsoft's Server Appliance Kit (SAK).

Mountain View Data partners with hardware companies and system integrators that bundle its software with hardware. Mr. Sun stated, " our membership in IBM's Server Proven program as well as our relationships with Computer Associates, Bakbone Software and APC demonstrate our commitment to working with industry leaders in bringing storage solutions to the corporate market."

Later this year, MVD plans to introduce a synchronization module for real-time replication in LAN, MAN, and WAN environments. It also plans to incorporate fail-over and storage area network (SAN) capabilities to its NAS software.
